Mopar Body Codes
A Body, B Body, C Body, and More
First, it’s important to note that nearly every car and truck manufacturer uses some sort of body code. Body codes identify the different chassis that certain models are built on. GM and Mopar seem to have one of the simplest versions of the body codes, using only one to two letters to differentiate the different body styles. Because of this, you have to include the manufacturer when identifying a vehicle by your body code. For example, both GM and Mopar have E body cars so if you say you have a Mopar E Body, people know you have either a 1970 – 1974 Dodge Challenger or a 1970 – 1974 Plymouth Barracuda. Whereas the GM E Body was the body code for a large series of personal luxury cars from 1963 to 2002 and included the Oldsmobile Toronado, Buick Riviera, and the Cadillac Eldorado, along with several others. These are obviously very different than the Mopar muscle cars mentioned previously.

As you can see, Mopar has nearly exhausted the alphabet on their body codes. But we’re not complaining because in this process they have brought us some of the most iconic sports cars and muscle cars in recent history. From the 1963-1976 Dodge Dart and 1971-1972 Dodge Demon to the 1964-1969 Plymouth Barracuda, 1970-1976 Plymouth Duster, 1966-1978 Dodge Charger, 1970-1974 Dodge Challenger, Coronets, Furys, and so much more we have seen Dodge, Plymouth, and other Mopar manufacturers make history. And we haven’t even talked about their luxury cars. If you haven’t been chauffeured around in the back of an 80s New Yorker or Fifth Avenue, well you haven’t experienced the lap of luxury that is plush seating and a suspension that feels like you’re floating on clouds.
Repairing and Restoring Classic Mopar Vehicles
When you get a classic Mopar B-Body, E-Body, or other body code and you start repairing and restoring it, remember that stainless steel is superior to all other materials when it comes to the prebent lines that run from the engine to rear brakes and tanks. Check out SSTubes’ large variety of stainless steel brake lines, prebent fuel lines, transmission lines, exhaust systems, and so much more.
